Rebranding made Smarter

project overview

The Client

Tarter Farm and Ranch is a household name for all in farming, ranching, gardening, homesteading, and more. Tarter offers solutions for all those looking to improve life on their land - big or small. The company has been creating and improving their products since 1945, when it all started with a handmade gate and a farmer's dream.

The Request

During my time with Saint Emblem, I was tasked with the project of creative direction and project management for the rebrand of Tarter. It was not a small task considering the huge growth of the company over their years as well as their loyal customer base. Despite their growth and roots, the brand was struggling to keep up with their needs through visuals and messaging.

The Solution

The first step was gathering the team. Freelancers, our internal team, plus the team at Tarter was gathered to review and get on the same page. It came time to dig deep, learn Tarter from the inside out, and understand who they would be in the future so they brand could evolve past the growing pains. Through internal interviews, many tours of the comapany's head quarters, and attendance to a few homesteading festivals, the direction was sure and the project began. The new brand was born and the growth continued with a fresh face.

the Product

The sixth month project birthed a stunning brand that encompassed a company's past, present, and future. Managing the brand's next steps was the key to further success, creating collateral, designing an organizational process to ensure brand consistency, and continually creating marketing materials to support the brand, the sales teams, and the internal departments.

The guide

Styling Guide

For a large team and multiple sales outlets, more than your typical brand guidelines were needed. In addition,  we created a “Co-Op Guidelines” that included all guides on sales teams advertising, design templates, and how to use the brand in an easy to digest guide accessible to retailers, wholesalers, and internal sales teams. With a bit of training and a new protocol to ensure brand consistency across all platforms, the new brand identity was ready to sore to stores, homesteads, and ranches.

The Result

To this day, the company continues to grow and thrive. The rebrand was a success in gaining needed momentum, attention from unaware customers, and a fresh face for existing customers. Internal teams were immediately excited and ready to show off their new colors, icons, and merch with requests for new materials. A creative online hub was implemented to balance the new influx of requests, merch was put into production, and sales continued to grow. Tarter continues to set the standard for farm and ranch equipment with extraordinary quality for an affordable price. The brand continues to grow and adapt over time to best serve their growing customer base.
